My parents wouldn’t contribute to my college education, yet now they expect me to bankroll my sister’s extravagant wedding.

So I confronted them with a truth that completely destr0yed their carefully arranged plan.

“I already told the florist to expect your payment.”

My mother said it so casually that I actually thought I had misheard her.

“The payment for what?”

“For Emily’s wedding, of course. You’re sending the money this afternoon.”

I stared at my phone in complete disbelief.

“Mom… that’s thirty-five thousand dollars.”

“I know.”

“And nobody even asked me.”

She sighed as if I were the difficult one.
